Ok-ja and her son Do-hyun relocate and falsely register their residence in Daechi-dong, Seoul, aiming to secure better educational opportunities despite their tight financial situation. At school, Do-hyun grows envious of his affluent classmate Sang-su, who receives disability benefits, only to discover that Sang-su is not truly disabled. This revelation highlights significant loopholes in the government’s welfare system. Later, at university, Do-hyun teams up with his new friend Ji-woo to exploit government entrepreneurship subsidies, deliberately pushing the boundaries of lenient policies for financial gain. Driven by ambition for greater wealth, Do-hyun partners with an investor named Kevin to launch a risky cryptocurrency scheme, sidelining Ji-woo in the process. Although they initially enjoy some success, their venture ultimately collapses under regulatory pressure. Their attempt to multiply money with even more money backfires, turning their pursuit into a perilous "Death Business."
