Karlag, abbreviation for Karaganda Corrective Labor Camp, was among the most significant labor camps in the Soviet Gulag network. Founded in 1931, it was situated in Kazakhstan’s Karagandy Region. This film aims to depict the severe hardships endured by inmates from the 1930s to the 1950s, highlighting the resilience of human dignity amidst relentless survival challenges. To authentically portray the camp’s environment, the production utilizes historically accurate costumes, props, and sets, meticulously crafted based on comprehensive research from archival materials and museum collections.
