In the 1980s, Manoharan emerged as a key figure in the city’s crude oil smuggling operations. He stood against Patani’s vision of establishing a private port designed to serve as a central hub for the illicit oil market. To pressure the government into supporting his own ambitions, Manoharan siphoned off a substantial amount of oil from the pipeline as a form of blackmail. Ultimately, Vasu succeeds in recovering the stolen oil.
