At the dawn of the modern age, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan set out on a daring voyage sponsored by Spain to discover the earliest westward passage to the Spice Islands. His fleet braved the unknown expanses of the Pacific Ocean, confronting threats of starvation, internal dissent, and the mental strain of navigating vast, uncharted waters. When they finally reached the island of Cebu, Magellan's fervent efforts to promote Catholicism led to a deadly clash with local inhabitants, ultimately resulting in his untimely demise.
