Following the 1999 hijacking of IC-814 and the 2001 Parliament attack, Ajay Sanyal, then Chief of India’s Intelligence Bureau, launched a relentless mission to penetrate and dismantle terrorist networks operating out of Pakistan. His strategy focused on infiltrating Karachi’s notorious underworld mafia. Central to this complex operation was a 20-year-old Punjabi youth, wrongfully imprisoned for a retaliatory crime, whom Sanyal identified as the key agent to carry out this daring plan.
