Preparation for the Next Life

Aishe, a Uyghur woman shaped by her military father’s rigorous training, relocates to New York City and works in the hidden kitchens beneath Chinatown. There, she crosses paths with Skinner, a young American soldier recently back from three Middle Eastern deployments. As their romance blossoms, they begin to envision a brighter future together, challenging the solitary lives they once thought inevitable.
