Dongji Rescue

During World War II, off the coast of Zhoushan, China, a Japanese cargo ship transporting British prisoners of war was sunk, trapping thousands inside by the Japanese forces. In this critical moment, fishermen from Dongji Island courageously rose to the occasion. Motivated by their deep compassion, bravery, and unwavering determination, these fishermen risked the turbulent seas to forge a lifeline, offering a chance of survival to the stranded POWs.
